An introduction to trail riding
Beautiful scenery, fresh air and a sport that challenges and stretches come together with trail riding. This is a sport that takes riders off the flat and into hills, peak districts and mountains. While similar to cross-country cycling in some aspects, trail riding is more aggressive, requiring the tackling of challenging single tracks. Modern trail centers offer a mix of technical and free stretches providing something for all ability levels.
Who can take part in trail riding
Trail riding is the perfect sport for adding an extra dimension to cycling with courses and trails designed for all levels of experience. Trail riding takes place in all weather conditions and with long downhill stretches involved and high speeds being reached, having a robust trail mtb is advisable. Wearing long-finger gloves and knee pads are recommended for protection should a fall occur.
Trail mountain bike specifications
While trail riding can be practiced on all mountain bikes, carbon or alloy full suspension bikes with forks of between 130mm and 170mm provide optimal comfort while our innovative TwinLoc Suspension System delivers total control. TwinLoc is operated by a handlebar remote and gives a choice of three ride modes, Descend, Traction Control and Lockout. With the challenging ground covered in trail riding, responsive brakes and wide handlebars along with strong wheels and tires are also essential for full control in all weather conditions.
